Opus’ Escrow Division: Commerce Escrow
All 1031 Exchange funds are held in a qualified escrow account by Commerce Escrow, a division of Opus Bank with over 35 years of experience in commercial and industrial escrow transactions. Each exchange account is segregated into its own escrow account to ensure funds are never commingled with anyone else’s. Opus Bank is also a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), so you can rest assured that your deposits are insured for the standard FDIC deposit insurance coverage limit of $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category.
With over 30 years of experience to assist with all your 1031 exchange needs, our RPM Investments team puts the security of your funds first. Your funds are held in a qualified escrow interest-bearing account for disbursal with all accrued interest credited directly to your exchange file. Be confident your money is working for you, even while it is waiting for your next investment.
Introduction to 1031 Exchanges
As a division of Opus Bank, RPM Investments, Inc. is a qualified 1031 Exchange Accommodator. We can help qualify your transactions as a Deferred Exchange pursuant to Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code, or Section 1031 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. We understand that 1031 Exchanges are time sensitive and will work closely with Commerce Escrow’s escrow officers to ensure your exchange is successfully completed within the timeframes dictated by the IRS and California Revenue and Tax Code.
Under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Service’s Tax Code, you can defer payment of capital gains taxes on the sale of real property as long as you, the exchanger, through a qualified accommodator, purchase a replacement property within 180 days of the original sale date.
