Evan Klein currently serves as Managing Director and Head of Media, Entertainment & Business Services Group within the Merchant Banking Division of Opus Bank. Mr. Klein has over 30 years of investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance experience and has acted in an advisory or principal role on over $8.0 billion of mergers & acquisitions, financings, and private equity investments.
Mr. Klein is well known for having completed many highly visible transactions, including the $2.8 billion sale of INTERVU to Akamai Technologies; sale of D.L. Ryan Companies to SolutionSet MediaWhiz; $91 million sale of Great Escape Theatres to Regal Cinemas; $100 million private equity placement for Evergreen Copyrights; $150 million IPO for Snyder Communications; $18 million private equity placement for TRA Global; $30 million private equity placement for TechTarget.com; $104 million secondary public offering for INTERVU; $70 million sale of Sabela Media to 24/7 Media; $50 million IPO for 24/7 Media; $115 million high yield offering for Citadel Broadcasting; sale of City Guide Magazine to Alta Communications; $30 million credit facility for Multiband Corporation; and $172 million IPO for Radio One.
Prior to joining Opus Bank, Mr. Klein was Managing Partner of Luminary Partners, a merchant banking firm focused on investments and financial advisory in media, technology, and business/information services companies. He also served as Managing Director and Head of the Media groups at Berkery, Noyes & Co. and Morgan Joseph TriArtisan, and as Director in the Media groups at SG Cowen Securities and Prudential Securities. Previously, Mr. Klein was a Vice President at Allen & Company, a leading U.S. merchant bank focused on the media, entertainment, and technology sectors.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Klein served as a financial analyst at The First Boston Corporation (Credit Suisse). Mr. Klein holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School and a B.S. (summa cum laude) from the State University of New York at Albany. He holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses.
