St. Joseph the Worker
“Give us the tools and we can work."
Phoenix, Arizona - The mission of St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) is to assist homeless, low-income and other disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment. The organization began in response to a humble plea from homeless individuals receiving dinner in the park: “Give us the tools and we can work.”
Their “Employment Heals” initiative provides support and job development resources for people experiencing homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, addictions or previous incarceration. SJW also provides services to many other community agencies and has established 20 satellite locations through these partnerships for additional community job-seekers to access employment assistance. In addition, their Mobile Success Unit takes these great resources on the road to deliver their high-quality employment services to disadvantaged job-seekers that have limited or no access to employment assistance.
The Opus Community Foundation is proud to support St. Joseph the Worker’s incredible success in achieving their goal: helping those experiencing hardship to enter the workforce and become self-sufficient community members.
